THE showcase event of the Australian equine industry is on this weekend, and a Keysborough woman will be a key presenter.
Antoinette Foster, founder of HiForm Australia, will conduct two ‘Equine Kitchen’ lectures at Equitana Melbourne between today and Sunday.
Ms Foster’s lectures will be based on equine nutrition, which will help dissolve the myths associated with feeding, providing owners with a healthy and balanced diet for their horses.
Ms Foster has been invited to be a presenter at Equitana since the show started.
She said the best thing about Equitana was getting to meet the horse enthusiasts she has spoken to on the telephone.
“It’s the biggest buzz when I get to meet customers who come and say thanks for my products,” she said.
Ms Foster created HiForm, a brand of horse feed, 20 years ago after trying several products without much success. She decided to use her education and training and developed a formula called the HerbaNerve.
She has a long list of qualifications, including human nutrition, equine nutritional therapy, equine nutrition and nutrition and disease.
Ms Foster said she hoped people took away a better understanding of nutrition and feeding from her presentation.
Ms Foster will provide information on natural health and feeding recommendations for all types of horses.
“Nutrition is the most important aspect to getting things right … it can reduce the risk of disease,” she said.
“The average owner needs a good understanding of how the digestive systems works.
“A horse’s stomach is really quite small and people tend to overfeed.”
