Big day for Dandy

By Delima Shanti
VISITORS to Dandenong’s Wilson Reserve will be treated to some aural delights at the Music in the Park event on Sunday 6 March.
Held in conjunction with the Dandenong Cycling Criterium, the event has been rescheduled after being cancelled because of local floods.
The day of music, food and wine will kick off with country and roots outfit, the Mooney Valley Drifters. And the Honkytonk Boogie Band will perform country and swing tunes for punters wanting to shake their tail feathers.
There also will be other entertainment such as rock’n’roll dance workshops, a show and shine competition, a barbecue and plenty of activities for the young ones.
Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades said merging sport and music should provide “lots of thrills for spectators and fast times for competitors”.
“A variety of music styles from reggae and swing bands, plus fresh and healthy food options will provide a great opportunity for families to relax and enjoy the atmosphere,” he said.
Music in the Park and the Cycling Criterium will be held at Wilson Reserve on Pultney Street from 10am to 4pm.
