DINGLEY Village celebrated its 150th birthday last weekend in glorious weather and with the full support of its community.
Held at the Dingley Village Neighbourhood Centre on Sunday, hundreds of people turned out to wish the village a happy birthday.
A sausage sizzle provided by the Dingley Village Lions Club kept patrons well fed while entertainment was taken care of by schools and performers on the front lawn gazebo.
City of Kingston mayor Topsy Petchey spoke on the significance of Dingley Village to the City of Kingston while the Dingley Village Historical Society presented a historical timeline of the town’s formation.
The society’s indoor historical display said Dingley Village was most likely founded after English migrant Thomas Attenborough bought the land and named his home Dingley Grange in 1856.
