THE State Government will establish a Competition and Efficiency Commission inquiry on the strategic direction and growth of Victoria’s manufacturing industry.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region Liberal MLC Inga Peulich says it will revitalise the manufacturing sector in Melbourne’s south-east.
“The Coalition has recognised the importance of our local manufacturing industry and putting in place the right policy settings will create new jobs and grow the manufacturing sector’s contribution to our broader economy,” she said.
Ms Peulich said the region was renowned as a centre for innovative manufacturing and produced 44 per cent of Victoria’s manufactured goods output.
Manufacturing, Exports and Trade Minister Richard Dalla-Riva said all interested parties were encouraged to contribute to the inquiry.
The inquiry will consider submissions and release a draft report for consultation before a final report is provided to the government.
