Grants boost for blokes

MEN’S Sheds and other community-based organisations in Greater Dandenong have been invited to apply for new grants.
Federal Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus is asking organisations to apply for up to $10,000 under the second round of the Australian Government’s Shed Development Program.
“There are men in our community who feel isolated and lonely at times and Men’s Sheds are great at providing a friendly and welcoming environment where men can socialise and support one another,” Mr Dreyfus said.
“Men’s sheds provide a huge benefit to a man’s overall health and wellbeing.”
The funding will allow community organisations to establish a new shed or help improve existing sheds, and will also assist community groups to buy work equipment, improve disability access, obtain shed insurance or connect to utilities.
Areas that do not have sheds or have high unemployment will take priority for the funding.
The Federal Government is providing $750,000 over three years through the Australian Men’s Shed Association.
