The market was a hive of activity as visitors took advantage of live multicultural performances, cooking demonstrations, roving entertainers and give-aways.
Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades said the market was one of Dandenong’s most iconic attractions.
“Behind this incredible redevelopment has always been a simple wish – to offer our residents the best in fresh, healthy, affordable produce,” Cr Blades said.
“We now boast the best in shopping with a huge range of choice.”
The redevelopment included a new Meat, Fish and Deli Hall, a refurbished and expanded fruit and vegetable section, a new Produce Hall and a bustling General Merchandise Hall.
Star photographer Donna Oates was at the opening to catch all the action.
