Lyons gets the job

GREATER Dandenong Council has appointed architectural firm Lyons to design the next stage of the new municipal building project.
In November, the council entered into an agreement with VicUrban for the new civic building to be constructed on the corner of Walker and Lonsdale streets.
The new civic complex will include a new library, administration office, council chamber, community meeting space and a new civic square.
Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades said the council had a long-standing goal to place the government and administration functions of the City of Greater Dandenong in a single site.
“It has been more than 15 years since the formation of the City of Greater Dandenong following the council amalgamations and the time is right to move towards bringing the council’s administration into one building,” Cr Blades said.
“As part of the design process, extensive consultation will be undertaken to ensure the development not only complements the Revitalising Central Dandenong master plan, but delivers the best outcome for the community.”
