A DANDENONG man has been refused bail after he was found with a bottle of petrol on a Sydney bus on Sunday.
Amir Ali Osmanagic, 18, along with Sydney’s Parham Esmailpour, 19, were charged with affray and possessing an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence at the Waverley Local Court in Sydney on Monday.
Osmanagic was refused bail while Esmailpour was bailed to appear in court later this week.
Police say the pair was caught on a bus heading to Bondi Junction after meeting at Central Station.
It is alleged each had an 800ml bottle of petrol in their possession.
The court heard Osmanagic was found with a pamphlet that read ‘Howard riots – how racist policies breed racist violence’.
The court heard the men gave different reasons for carrying the petrol.
Esmailpour said he wanted to sniff it, while Osmanagic said he was bringing it to a friend whose car had broken down. The pair was due to appear in court again this week.
