Applications close soon for women’s art grants

Applications for grants with the Victorian Women’s Public Art Program (VWPA) are closing on Friday 28 January.

The initiative is attempting to progress gender equality in Victoria as just 1.5% of Melbourne’s 580 public statues depict real women. The VWPA helps achieve this goal by lifting the visibility of women and placing them on public record.

Grants of $50,000-$200,000 are available to support the creation or completion of permanent works of public art, such as sculptures, statues and installations, which celebrate the contributions and achievements of Victorian women.

Councils, organisations and businesses across Victoria are invited to apply and encouraged to engage with a local female artist and community group.

Regional Arts Victoria has partnered with the Victorian Government to deliver the program.
