VERONICA ‘Von’ Philp’s dedication to drug and alcohol counselling in Noble Park has landed her the honour of Greater Dandenong’s Non-Resident of the Year at this year’s Australia Day awards.
Von lives in Dingley, but works at the Cyrene Centre in Noble Park where she is dedicated to assisting young people from the community who need drug and alcohol counselling.
She is also involved in Noble Park Rotary Club’s various community work.
“I have been blessed with a loving husband Terry and four children – two daughters and two sons, all married, and the blessings continue with six beautiful grandchildren and two more due this year,” she said.
“Why shouldn’t I put something back into this community ministering families in thanksgiving for my own?”
Von said she was humbled by the award, but added that it was largely due to the help of her support team.
