Cornerstone Christmas

CHRISTMAS came early at Cornerstone Dandenong’s hard-working volunteers last week.
Tuesday, 24 July was Christmas in July at the Dandenong charity, which works around the year to provide meals and social opportunities for the city’s most disadvantaged residents.
But last week was time for the hard-working volunteers who keep Cornerstone operating to sit back and kick up their feet.
Those in attendance were treated to a tasty three-course meal with all of the Christmas-style trimmings.
Pastor Max Walker said that earlier in the day the staff took part in volunteer training. “Forty-three of the 60 Cornerstone volunteers attended the meeting and participated in the training activities,” he said.
“It was followed by the Christmas in July dinner organised by Suzanne Van Rooy, a member of the Cornerstone Board and leader of the award-winning Avocare Cooking program that operates out of Cornerstone.
“A brilliant three course meal was provided with all the trimmings of Christmas as a way of thanking the volunteers who give of their time unstintingly to make Cornerstone happen.”
