Eagles perch in fourth spot

By Glen Atwell
THE Doveton Eagles have secured fourth spot on the Southern Football League Division Three ladder after a 56-point win against Skye on Power Reserve on Saturday.
The Eagles doubled the Bombers’ score and were led by goal-kicking revelation Michael Gorman, who booted seven majors.
Doveton was dominant in the first quarter, slotting six goals to Skye’s one.
The Eagles never looked back in a tireless effort that proved the Power Road side is capable of playing four quarters of great football.
Matthew Fristad and Kevin Mottau were best on ground for Doveton.
Cameron Van-nes also impressed, kicking three goals.
On Saturday the Eagles travel to Black Rock to tackle the second-placed side.
Dandenong v Mount Waverley
DANDENONG thrashed raging hot favourite Mount Waverley by 60 points and kept its dream of playing Division Three finals alive at Greaves Reserve on Saturday.
After a tight first quarter, the Demons piled on eight goals to three in the second term to unsettle the third-placed side and coasted to victory.
William Jessop was the unlikely top goal scorer for Dandenong with four, while Vaughan Geddes chimed in three majors.
Daniel Black was best on ground for the Demons, who travel to Cerberus on Saturday in another must-win game.
Sandown v Black Rock
SANDOWN was rolled by the rampaging Black Rock at Edinburgh Reserve on Saturday, losing by 75 points.
Burly Cobras full-forward Clint Sheedy booted five goals, but was one of only four goal-kickers for his side on a mostly dark day.
Sandown trailed at every change, and despite demonstrating a marked improvement on last year’s form, was simply outclassed.
Best for the Cobras were Caleb Love and Daniel Mulvogue.
Sandown travels to Mount Waverley on Saturday.
