THE Dandenong Rangers have a problem.
Only three games remain in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) season and the Rangers are not in the top four.
But a chance to make the play-offs still remains.
There are three teams vying for the all-important fourth spot on the WNBL ladder – Townsville Fire, Bulleen Boomers and the Dandenong Rangers.
All three teams are in action against each other at some stage this weekend.
On Friday night, the Boomers host Townsville before the Fire backs up on Saturday night against Dandenong.
Townsville must win both games to give itself a finals chance.
Of the three teams in the race to the finals, Dandenong is the only side not dependent on the results of other games.
After playing Townsville the Rangers have a tough interstate trip to finish the season, taking on Perth next Thursday before a stop against Adelaide on Saturday.
If Dandenong wins all three games, a finals match is guaranteed.
Bulleen and Dandenong could finish on the same number of wins, but because Dandenong won the series split 2-1 against the Boomers this season, the Rangers would get the nod.
Coach Gary Fox said it was good to have destiny in the team’s own hands.
“The equation is simple, we have to win every game from here on in and we’re in,” he said.
