IT was no April Fool’s Day joke when the top-of-the-table Hume City thrashed the lowly Dandenong Rangers Championship Division women’s team 101-58 at the Stud Road stadium on Sunday.
After three narrow losses, the winless Rangers were blown away by the Broncos, a team yet to be beaten this season.
Dandenong was never in the contest and struggled to find the net from all over the court.
The Rangers shot at 36 per cent from the field, while Hume City converted at 45 per cent.
From the three-point line, Dandenong hit just one triple from 12 attempts while Hume City made eight from 24.
For the Rangers, Melissa Colcott (15 points, seven rebounds) and Tess Meyer (14 points) impressed, but neither could match the prowess of the scoring power of Hume City player Kellie Burbridge (26 points, 12 rebounds).
Women’s National Basketball League star Sharin Milner also played well for the Broncos, scoring 15 points.
Margin is no joke
