THE City of Greater Dandenong’s engineering department will install a flexible, carproof sign at a Noble Park speed cushion that is proving to be a headache for both council and motorists.
A rubber speed cushion was installed on Wallarano Drive in response to concerns about traffic speed after the street was rated the fifth worst for safety in the municipality.
Cr Roz Blades said motorists regularly hit the Keep Left sign on the speed cushion.
“We seem to be replacing it twice a week.”
She said the measures taken to slow traffic down in the area had been successful, but more needed to be done as there was a school close by.
The council’s director of engineering services Tim Tamlin said new springloaded signs would be installed tomorrow (Friday), and he hoped the new technology would solve the ongoing problems.
“We’ve tried this type of sign before but hopefully this new version will last longer.”
