A TAXI driver was attacked in Dandenong recently after he approached a passenger who had refused to pay his fare.
The incident happened on 30 October when a taxi driver took a passenger from the Crown Casino to Carson Street, Dandenong early in the morning.
Police said the offender produced a credit card for payment but the card was rejected.
Police said after arguing with the driver, the offender then left the taxi but the driver approached the man and an altercation ensued, with both men falling to the ground.
Police said the offender left the scene but returned shortly afterwards, grabbed the driver’s mobile phone and destroyed it, then punched the victim in the face.
The taxi driver was taken to Dandenong Hospital with bruising, abrasions and swelling.
A suspect was interviewed by detectives on the same day and charged with intentionally causing injury and criminal damage and bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court.
