A DANDENONG warehouse was part of a Yuletide crackdown on dangerous goods in which more than 9000 toys were seized.
The Supreme Court of Victoria has ordered Melbourne company Midas Trading to stop selling banned dangerous goods after Consumer Affairs Victoria confiscated 9000 toys from warehouses in Dandenong, Port Melbourne and Ardeer.
Consumer Affairs minister Marsha Thomson said the dangerous goods seized had the potential to be hazardous to children and cause death or serious injury.
She said some toys were found to be flammable or toxic.
“The vigilance of Consumer Affairs Victoria’s product safety inspectors has ensured ordinary families are protected from these dangerous toys,” Ms Thomson said.
The Supreme Court found Midas was in breach of the Fair Trading Act.
It ordered Midas to cease the sale of the identified goods until independent assessors developed safety standards and a compliance program.
