A CAREERS’ expo for senior school students in Keysborough and surrounding areas will be held at Haileybury Senior School on Monday 29 August.
The expo will host representatives from 11 fields of interest to give students an insight into different occupations and what they need for university and TAFE courses.
Industries represented on the day include architecture, building, commerce, engineering, creative arts, law, science, performing arts, tourism and hospitality, hospitality and management, IT, nursing, education, health, events management, media and communications, aviation and multimedia.
TAFE and universities will be present with representatives from Monash, Melbourne, RMIT, Swinburne, ACU, Deakin, Holmesglen, Box Hill, William Angliss and Chisholm.
Former Haileybury students working in these industries will be available for students to talk with as well as a question and answer session.
Director of Careers and Courses, Alison Fankhauser, said the expo is a terrific opportunity for students to gain firsthand experience from people working in industry.
“So many students choose subjects and courses with only a text book understanding of what they offer.
“At our careers’ expo, students can speak to an industry representative and gain a firsthand insight into what the industry is about and the courses required to gain entry into that particular industry,” Ms Fankhauser said.
The expo is free and open to all senior school students (years 10 to 12) in the local community.
Food is available for purchase on the night.
The Expo is at Haileybury Senior School, Gate One, 855891 Springvale Rd, Keysborough, and runs from 4pm to 8.15pm.
