THE ever-popular Urban Quest is back in 2007.
Event organisers Mission Australia and Dandenong Plaza announced the talent competition will return bigger and better than ever this year.
Since its launch in 2002, Urban Quest has attracted a cult-like following with youth from across the state travelling to Greater Dandenong to compete.
This year’s heats will run on 11 and 12 April and the grand final will be held on Saturday, 14 April.
The Drum Theatre will host the final event to accommodate what is expected to be a record crowd.
Urban Quest is a joint initiative of Mission Australia’s Youth Information Centre and the Dandenong Plaza.
The event provides young people aged 12-25 the space to showcase their talents and express themselves creatively through music and dance.
This year’s categories include, vocal, dance and street – rap, spoken word and beatbox.
Auditions will be held on 29 and 30 March with contest applications closing on 23 March.
Prizes will provide opportunities for participants to gain exposure in the music industry and will include free recording time at a reputable music studio, paid performances and vocal lessons at one of Melbourne’s leading singing schools.
