DANDENONG’S biggest annual talent quest yielded another batch of talented youngsters as they performed for the masses outside Dandenong Plaza last week.
Urban Quest 2008 took place on Saturday.
The event was held in Palm Plaza, a pedestrian extension of McCrae Street, located outside the Dandenong Plaza.
Dandenong police multicultural liaison officer Joey Herrech returned to host the event as the temperature increased by a couple of degrees when performers began hitting the stage to compete.
Winners were spread across three categories, including Dance, Vocals and Street.
Dance
1st – Street Funk Crew; 2nd – Destruct
Vocal
1st – Maddison McNamara; 2nd – Christine Thomas
Street
1st – Shazet; 2nd – Triga and Swets
Encouragement Award – Faitai Veamatahau
People’s Choice Award – Lyrical Magician
Urban Quest is a joint initiative of Mission Australia’s Youth Information Centre and the Dandenong Plaza, and aims to provide young people aged between 12 and 25 with a space to showcase their talents and express themselves creatively through music and dance.
