GREATER Dandenong Council has revealed the artwork that will be applied to the Noble Park railway pedestrian underpass.
The chosen art design received the tick of approval from Greater Dandenong residents, with more than 80 per cent of voters choosing artist Anu Patel’s River Flow design.
Two concept designs for the $25,000 Department of Infrastructure-funded project, in partnership with Connex, were produced by Ms Patel.
Mayor John Kelly said the project would add to the improving amenity of Noble Park.
“This project has received considerable community support and the council looks forward to the finished result.”
Cultural planning officer Grissel Walmaggia said Ms Patel had worked extensively on train station art projects throughout England.
“The aim of the artistic treatment is to create an energetic space that is filled with reflective light for improved visibility, safety and cleanliness when entering the underpass,” Ms Walmaggia said.
“The winning design provides a bright colourful option for the underpass that will play an important role in enhancing visibility.
“Light will be amplified through the use of reflective stainless steel elements and to improve sight lines at the underpass entrance.”
The project is expected to be finished mid-March.
