THE Birman Society is holding a Championship Show featuring all breeds of cats on Sunday, 28 August at Wellington Secondary College, Police Road, Mulgrave.
The show has attracted international and interstate judges, and is open to the public from 10am4.30pm.
Entry is $4 for adults, $2 for children and $10 for a family, and catering available on the day.

THE City of Greater Dandenong is holding a community treeplanting day at Illawarra Reserve in Dandenong North this Sunday.
Neighbourhood Watch volunteers and local residents will gather to plant the native trees and shrubs at the reserve’s playground between 11am and 1pm, and community members are invited to attend.
The planting is part of the Springtime Planting Program, which aims to place 16,000 plants in schools, parks and reserves throughout the city.
Illawarra Reserve is off Illawarra Crescent, Dandenong North.

DANDENONG Oasis is hosting a Sounds of the Globe Multicultural Day on 16 October, and is calling for performers and stallholders to book early.
The day aims to raise funds for the Gateway Centre in Dandenong, which cares for people with a wide range of disabilities.
Dandenong Oasis will donate $1 of each entry fee to the cause.

LEADING Dandenong youth support organisation Visy Cares and the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2005 Grand Final Fundraiser featuring special guest, former Geelong football star Billy Brownless.
He will join former Sale of the Century host Tony Barber, who will be the MC at the event. The fundraiser will be held at the Dingley International Hotel, 334348 Boundary Road, Dingley, starting at noon.
It costs $75 per head, or $700 for a table of 10, and will feature the auction of sporting memorabilia and a Ford Fiesta thanks to Coffey Ford in Dandenong.

A SPECIAL garage sale will be held on Saturday, 28 August to raise money for the Noble Park Wildlife Shelter. Danielle Gorham from the shelter said the annual garage sale provided vital funding which went towards food and equipment for the animals – mainly orphans – that she takes in.
The sale will be held onsite at 14 Arcadia Court, Noble Park.

THE Dandenong Philatelic Society welcomes new members and experienced philatelists to its monthly meetings at the Dandenong Library.
Members learn new approaches to the hobby by sharing stamp collecting knowledge, and can also find elusive items to help their collections grow.
The society meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is on Wednesday, 24 August at 7.30pm.

The Springvale and District Historical Society’s exhibition of military uniforms and paraphernalia from 1788 to 1988 will continue until 28 August at 7 Hillcrest Grove, Springvale.
