IT WAS art and craft heaven in Dandenong this week thanks to the University of the Third Age (U3A).
The Dandenong U3A is part of a wider network of U3As offering a variety of affordable courses for retired or semi-retired people.
At the U3A Art and Craft Show at Chisholm TAFE this week, show-goers had the chance to see first hand the work produced by students from photography, painting, needlework and other art and craft classes.
U3A publicity officer Bill Cooney said the pieces on display were available for purchase but were also a fine way for students to promote their work.
The group stopped for a short period of time on Tuesday to have its annual general meeting at which Noble Park Rotarian Keith Maxwell was guest speaker.
Mr Maxwell spoke about his experiences with Interplast, an Australian surgical team that has performed over 40,000 remedial plastic surgeries in countries neighbouring Australia and around the Pacific Rim.
The Dandenong U3A is always looking for new members to fill its classes, Mr Cooney said.
Classes range from computer courses to dancing, genealogy to tai chi.
