FOR a moment it seemed as though the Redbacks were going to inflict the Bulls with their first stinging loss of the season.
But the Noble Park side remained composed and charged to a 17-point victory against Ringwood at Jubilee Park on Saturday.
The Redbacks threw everything they had at the ladder leaders, but could not overpower the First Division premiership favourites.
Brent Williams kicked four goals for the Bulls and Vic Currie returned to his brilliant best, booting three vital goals.
Playing coach Shane Burgmann was best-on-ground for the Bulls and Nathan Tiberi played his best game of the season.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the Redbacks would be ruing an inaccurate first quarter that could have seen them take a lead into the first break.
Ringwood booted 1.5 to the Bulls’ three goals straight in the opening term.
At the final siren, the Redbacks (8.14) had three more scoring shots than the Bulls (12.7), but it was Noble Park that left with all the premiership points.
The Bulls travel down the Burwood Highway this Saturday to clash with East Burwood.
