HARD work paid off for Dandenong’s Oasis Otters team during the 2005 Victorian Short Course Age Swimming Championships earlier this month.
Cassandra Brooks led the way for the team, becoming the first Otters swimmer to win a gold medal at the state championships.
Brooks took home three gold medals and four silver medals, while team-mate Adrian Scott came close to qualifying for national championships with some top performances.
Other Otters team members included Natasha Gray, Natalie Oreski, Kirra Minton, Samantha Thiele, Travis Barker, Matthew Tims and Kieran Morling.
Head coach Anthony Coulson said the team deserved its success.
“The team has been working hard and are training between 12 and 20 hours per week,” he said.
“Training consists of swimming, strength work, cycling, running and circuit work.”
The Oasis Otters Swim Squads recently underwent a restructure and are setting their sights on a successful campaign at the Victorian Long Course Championships in January and the Australian Age Nationals in April in Sydney.
