AFTER six years of trying and three runners-up flags, Dandenong City was at last successful in winning its first grand final pennant in the Southern Districts Electric Light Bowls Association recently.
Finishing second in Division Five, the club played Clayton (2) in the semi-final and was comprehensively defeated by 20 shots.
The team then had to play Hampton RSL, which won its semi-final against Hampton Park, in the preliminary final.
It turned out to be a one-sided affair, with Dandenong City winning by 56 shots.
Facing Clayton in the final seemed a daunting task, but, to its surprise, Dandenong City showed grit and determination a complete form reversal and win by a massive 46 shots.
