THE RESULTS of five months of public consultation over the State Government’s revitalisation of Central Dandenong were on display with a variety of fanfare last weekend.
The Community Information Day, hosted by VicUrban, included information sessions on the research’s outcomes, along with free activities and a sausage sizzle for residents who attended the Palm Plaza celebrations last Saturday.
Major Projects Minister John Lenders also awarded five $250 Dandenong Plaza gift vouchers to winners of a competition for people who made submissions with their vision of Central Dandenong.
They included, Dandenong’s Kristina Draskovic, Doveton’s Jacob Peterson, Dandenong’s Tabitha Culph, Erwin Tremayne and Lawrence Wegdwood.
The winning entries covered visions from battery-driven cars through to pedestrian-free cities.
Mr Lenders said the day was an informal way for those involved in the $92.8 million revitalisation to chat with residents and swap ideas.
“Being able to meet people over a cup of coffee and a sausage sizzle is as important as the more formal consultation process required when planning a redevelopment that will undoubtedly transform Central Dandenong,” he said.
