THE Springvale, Noble Park (SNP) Hockey Club launched its State League Two season in impressive fashion, beating the MHSOB Hockey Club 1-0 at Mills Reserve on Saturday.
After scoring a goal in the first half, the SNP players spent the second half defending attacking plays.
MHSOB had 19 penalty corners – 13 more than SNP – but could not find a way past SNP goalkeeper Greg Rondinella.
Rondinella was kept more than busy by the MHSOB attack and successfully fended away several shots on the goal.
The game was marred by an incident involving SNP player Andrew Larman, who was felled by the hockey stick of an MHSOB player.
Larman was carried from the ground with suspected concussion after receiving the blow to the head.
On Saturday, SNP plays Toorak East Malvern Hockey Club, while Mills Reserve cotenant Dandenong Hockey Club hosts Footscray.
