A NEW centre for a range of community services in Noble Park has opened, aimed at benefiting residents of all ages and ethnicities.
The first services at the longawaited Paddy O’Donoghue Centre began operating this week.
City of Greater Dandenong children, youth and family services manager Pam Regan said the multimilliondollar complex heralded a new era for Noble Park residents.
“A lot of services will operate out of there, which is pretty significant,” Ms Regan said.
“It’s a real boost for Noble Park.”
A maternal and child health centre, preschool and occasional care, and customer service are already in operation.
A childcare centre will begin operating this weekend with other services, including a senior citizens’ centre and communityrun programs such as gymnastics and karate, to gradually start in the next month.
The first meeting at the centre was held by the Noble Park/Keysborough Community Drug Action Forum last night (Wednesday).
Ms Regan said a group had also expressed interest in setting up a counselling service at the centre.
Ms Regan said the centre had been named after Paddy O’Donoghue, a significant Noble Park figure who served on the Noble Park Public Hall Trust for 47 years.
