RESIDENTS are invited to help plant thousands of new trees and shrubs in Keysborough’s Tatterson Park as part of National Tree Day celebrations next month.
The City of Greater Dandenong and Planet Ark will run the tree planting days on Saturday and Sunday 29 and 30 July.
Greater Dandenong bushland management coordinator Maree Keenan said 140,000 indigenous seedlings had been planted in the 10 years the program had been running in the city.
“Planting trees and shrubs has a major benefit on the health and wellbeing of the entire community, which is why we are calling on everyone to take part in this year’s National Tree Day at Tatterson Park,” she said.
