STRONG winds sent a tree crashing through powerlines and onto the corner of a Springvale house last week.
Springvale State Emergency Services (SES) volunteers removed the tree while police kept onlookers away from fallen powerlines.
SES officer Lisa Pountney said volunteers had to remove small branches before winching the tree clear to ensure it would not cause more damage to the home.
“We placed a rope over the tree and using the winch on our four-wheel drive very slowly brought the tree to ground level,” she said.
“SES then got up onto the roof where the tree had landed to check that all the tiles were still intact.”
Ms Pountney said power company contractors attended the scene to repair broken powerlines.
There were no injuries.
