THE field in the DDC Launching Pad final to be contested at Sandown Park will race for $29,000 in prize money with Devon Meadows based trainers Darren McDonald and Rinaldo Divirgilio keen to keep the title in the district.
Lara trainer Andrea Dailly will have four starters in the Group 3 race and is aiming to add the feature to her already impressive list of big race wins.
Tammy’s Fool, Jize Allen, Dyna Panama and Dubai Flex all registered narrow, but impressive, wins on a night where only two favourites saluted.
Divirgilio’s Burning Assassin is owned by a syndicate of local footballers including Devon Meadows captain Jess Dehey together with Rory Alder and Brad Langley. It was a recent Sandown Park maiden final winner and continued his impressive form, running home strongly to score by 1.75 lengths in his heat.
McDonald will be represented by Path To Power, while Geelong’s David Burnett will prepare Toucan Chew after he also won at his Sandown Park debut.
The fastest heat winner on the night came in the fourth, when bolter Tommy Lee Whisky scored by half a length at the remarkable price of $44.40.
Trained by Mark Ryan at Pearcedale, Tommy Lee Whisky had been racing consistently at Warragul and Geelong, but found another gear in his Sandown Park debut to register his win in a slick time of 30.05 seconds.
