DANDENONG Plaza became sacred turf for a swarm of World Cup football fans last weekend as sports stars and radio personalities hosted interactive games for shoppers.
The festivities were in preparation for the plaza’s main World Cup celebration this Saturday.
At last Saturday’s event, radio station Mix FM hosted a goal-kicking competition, with former Melbourne Victory player Ricky Diaco a special guest.
Dandenong Plaza marketing manager Julie MacDougall said the World Cup festivities were aimed at celebrating the excitement the event had generated.
For its main event, the plaza has lined up acts such as Victoria Police band Code One, African drummers and top 40 music countdowns.
It has also organised a human football table, Xbox gaming console challenges, and visits from football heroes Andy Vlahos and Trinidad and Tobago’s Kevin Nelson.
Saturday’s event will kick off at 11am and run until 3pm at the shopping centre’s adjoining Palm Plaza.
