MORE than 90 people – most of them netballers – helped revegetate a nearby creek at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong last weekend.
City of Greater Dandenong bushland management coordinator Maree Keenan this week said a strong field of greenthumbs turned out to Greaves Reserve last Saturday to help plant trees and shrubs.
“We are doing it to revegetate that side of the creek and attract wildlife,” she said. “We had a good mix of people, lots of them were kids from the netball stadium.”
They were helped by the Friends of Fotheringham Reserve and the Dandenong Environment Group.
Later that day at Keysborough’s Hetherington Reserve, 10 people turned out to plant trees and shrubs, Ms Keenan said.
Last weekend’s plantings followed the previous week’s National Tree Day at Tatterson Park.
Ms Keenan said more plantings were planned as part of an ongoing commitment to keep Greater Dandenong well vegetated.
