HENRYK Pawlukowski can play a bad game of tennis and still win in straight sets.
The 15-year-old tennis ace from Springvale North Tennis Club has just won a fourth consecutive premiership in the highest Sunday competition and has won 60 consecutive singles matches.
Yes – that’s a 60 match winning streak.
His coach Stephen Sruk said Henryk had the passion and desire to continue improving.
“He is a rock, so consistent all the time,” he said.
“Henryk can have a really bad day and still have the ability to tough it out and win the match.”
In order to continue improving, Sruk said Henryk played in competition normally reserved for much older competitors.
“He is playing above his age level, but that is great for his development,” he said.
This season Henryk will play pennant competition for the first time.
Pennant is senior tennis and provides a direct progression to state grade level.
Henryk said he was looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m playing with David Fonseca in grade three pennant, which is only three grades below state level,” he said.
“It’s pretty exciting.”
Watching tennis stars such as Roger Federer had helped Henryk stay motivated and confident.
“Federer is so smooth and takes the ball so early, it’s something to learn from,” he said.
But the teenager isn’t ready to compare himself to the unstoppable ‘Fed-Express’.
“I just love tennis, getting out on the court and staying fit,” Henryk said.
