GUIDED walking tours of Dandenong began yesterday (Wednesday) to provide residents and visitors with a chance to take in the sites and culture of the city.
The City of Greater Dandenong is introducing the Wonders of Dandenong Walking Tours to promote the historical importance of the city and the benefits of physical activity.
The free guided tours explain Dandenong’s local history and heritage, showcase recreational opportunities, highlight Aboriginal heritage, art and culture and explore the retail heart of Dandenong.
Council community health planner Deborah Manning said an experienced guide would conduct the walking tours with special commentary from John Crichton from the Dandenong Historical Society.
“The walk will take at least an hourandahalf to two hours and is suitable for people of all abilities,” she said.
“This is about promoting our wonderful city and being active at the same time.”
Participants will receive a voucher for a coffee/meal deal after the walk and are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and take drinking water.
To be a part of a walking tour, phone Deborah Manning on 9239 5331.
