ZAC the kelpie-cross would give another leg just to have a home and a loving family.
Veterinarians amputated the eight-month-old’s front leg after a car struck him and caused severe nerve damage.
Zac was left homeless and now resides at the Australian Animal Protection Society’s Keysborough shelter where he is awaiting adoption.
The shelter’s animal welfare coordinator, Sue Thompson, said: “He is a very friendly, active boy, and the loss hasn’t fazed him at all. Ideally we would like him to go to a home where there is another dog, or someone at home for company, not because he will need nurturing but because of his breed.”
Adopting Zac costs $145 but Ms Thompson said the shelter had already spent $900 on the operation, desexing, vaccinations, worming and microchipping.
To adopt Zac, phone the shelter on 9798 8415.
