Sargent Major wins the City of Greater Dandenong distance final last week.RAGING hot favourite Sargent Major scored its sixth successive win in the final of the $10,000 City of Greater Dandenong final at Sandown Park last week.
The $1.30 fancy clocked the fourth fastest time ever recorded over Sandown’s 715m trip at 42 seconds in his heat and drew box 1 in the final.
Sargent Major was headed early by Turbo Uno before railing through to take the lead and then held off a late challenge from Itza Bee to win the race by 1.75 lengths in 42.38 seconds.
Trainer Lauren Gorman will now pit her star against some of the best stayers in the country at Sandown in the heats of the $23,000 Group 3 Lizrene Classic next Thursday, 20 April.
