IN an enormous coup, the Southern Football League (SFL) has attracted sitting state parliamentarian Noel Pullen to its board of directors.
The Higinbotham MP is one of four new directors who have joined the board to usher in an exciting new era for the league.
Also filling casual vacancies on the board are noted sports lawyer David Andrew, IT and management executive Leigh Menzel and company director and business consultant Garry Cranny.
The new members all have vast experience in sports administration and will bring to the board an impressive array of business and management skills.
The appointments are the result of the work of the Southern Pride Task Force, which was convened to identify and recruit highly credentialled business administrators to take the SFL successfully into the future.
“There is a constant need to identify and recruit people with commercial experience, who can add to the existing body of knowledge at board level, in order to run a successful sporting organisation in today’s environment,” new board member David Andrew said.
“We look forward to working with Football Victoria to ensure the future development and growth of the SFL.”
Andrew said he believed the group’s main tasks were ensuring financial stability, the growth of the competition and addressing junior development.
The new-look board already has an impressive list of people who have pledged their support by declaring their willingness to serve on sub-committees.
