FORMER Australian fast bowler Damien Fleming is preparing for another season with Sub District Cricket club Noble Park.
Fleming capped a premiership-winning 2005-06 season by taking 39 wickets at an average of 10.56 and making 441 runs at 33.92, and making the Sub District team of the year.
“It was my first club cricket flag and it was great sharing it with a good bunch of blokes,” he said.
Fleming worked with up-and-coming fast bowler Ash Perera throughout the season and his influence has helped see the lanky speedster move on to play in Canberra and training with the Comets.
The club was thrilled to see Perera move on to improve his cricket despite the obvious hole it will leave in the team’s bowling line-up, and Fleming said he was looking forward to working with other up-and-coming cricketers this season.
Preseason training has started and is being held on Thursday nights from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Melbourne Cricket Centre in Clayton.
Players interested in joining and working with Fleming can contact coach Rod Douthie on 0414 227 179 or president Craig Ortland on 0416 101 396.
