GREATER Dandenong parking and local laws officers have undergone an image change.
Gone are the navy blue uniforms, donned by employees of the council’s regulatory services team, and here to stay are wheatcoloured tops and taupcoloured (similar to beige) pants.
Greater Dandenong council’s manager of regulatory services, Peter Shelton, said the new uniforms were chosen by officers and brought into effect from 1 December in an effort to give officers customer service appeal.
“The navy blue tends to have an association with police, and our focus is more on customer service,” he said.
“We have found since the new uniform has been in place that the feedback from the community is they love it.
“Officers do look much more approachable.”
Mr Shelton said the regulatory services department consisted of local law rangers, health officers and parking officers, but said a lot of officers had been receiving customer inquiries also.
“People approach them for all sorts of info, such as ‘where do I find X’, or they might want information about parking.
“Our officers have a broad range of knowledge about council functions to pass on to people.”
