STILL stung by the earlier criticism and gaining confidence from last week’s win, Burden Park’s Royal Victorian Bowls Association Premier side again was successful, this time against the more fancied Moonee Ponds 103-77.
The win was led by the rink of skip Geoff Rowdy Robinson, Russell Saunders, Ken Mackenzie and Russell Lawton 31-12.
The second side travelled to Yarra Glen and was outplayed by the locals, losing 130-60.
The third side bounced back from last week’s defeat by downing Berwick 94-81.
After successive losses the fourth side hit winning form and beat Hampton Park away 102-91.
Tony Bourke’s four were the pacesetters winning 44-10.
Still struggling to find form the fifth side lost to Parkdale by 14 shots.
The sixth side suffered its first defeat for the season, losing narrowly to Ringwood 92-87, while the seventh side with a team thrown together at the last minute battled gamely against East Malvern but lost 77-61.
Burden Park’s top Victorian Ladies’ Bowls Association Pennant side continued to blow away the opposition, thumping Beaumaris 137-55.
Evelyn Martin and her rink won brilliantly 42-12.
The second side failed by nine shots against local rivals Keysborough 78-87.
The rinks of Jessie McKay and Alice Pegram, with 10 and 4-shot wins respectively, could not cover the losing rinks.
The third side, flushed by last week’s victory, soundly defeated Edithvale 58 to 31 with Rose Joseph’s rink winning 31-14.
