UPGRADING a busy roundabout intersection sitting on the border of Greater Dandenong and the City of Casey is an election priority, according to a local candidate.
A roundabout lies where Pound Road intersects with the South Gippsland Highway and is often ‘clogged’ beyond belief, according to Liberal candidate for Lyndhurst Gary Anderton.
Mr Anderton said the link to Dandenong South’s industrial area would be the focus of state-funded road upgrades if the Liberals are elected to power at November’s state election.
“The intersection has some of the worst traffic congestion I’ve seen locally, causing long queues on Pound Road, South Gippsland Highway in both directions and even as far back as Greens Road in Dandenong South,” he said.
Playing politics, Mr Anderton made a sign and stood at the roundabout this week to gain the support of motorists stuck in traffic.
“At this year’s state election I will go in fighting for the community to have the local traffic congestion fixed under a Baillieu Liberal Government,” he said.
