FIREFIGHTERS have praised the Noble Park resident who called 000 during the early stages of a fire at Carwatha College this week.
Both Dandenong and Noble Park firefighters rushed to the college in Browns Road, Noble Park, at 11.15pm on Monday and were able to quickly contain a fire in a set of lockers at the rear of the school.
CFA photographer Keith Pakenham said crews contained the fire easily thanks to a neighbour who called 000 before the fire gathered any strength.
The locker area suffered mainly smoke damage, and the cause is being investigated by police.
