On Saturday night at Sandringham, not even a 17-point quarter-time lead could secure the Dandenong Rangers its first victory in the men’s championship.
After leading Sandringham 23-6 at quarter-time, the Rangers could not maintain their early momentum and eventually crashed to an 80-91 round two loss.
Import Lester Strong starred for the Rangers, scoring 28 points.
Eager to win their first game of the season, the Rangers returned to the Dandenong Basketball Stadium on Sunday afternoon to play Eltham.
The home crowd brought out the best in the Dandenong side, which beat Eltham 104-87.
Star of the show Strong eclipsed the opposition with 46 points.
Strong shot an amazing 22 field goals from 34 attempts, converting 66 per cent of his chances.
Brent Hobba contributed 21 points for the Rangers.
In the first three games of the season, Strong has already scored 100 points for Dandenong.
The Rangers take on Hume City this Saturday night in round three of the Big V championship division.
