HAILEYBURY College students Sean Dwyer and Andrew Rabinovich have been selected to represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia tennis championships in Queensland.
The Keysborough campus students caught the eye of Victorian team selectors and were invited to attend further selection trials before finally securing spots on the boys’ team.
The 16-year-olds will join teammates to play in a series of practice matches and training sessions before competing in the school sport event in Rockhampton, Queensland next week.
Dwyer, who plays grade two pennant for Dingley Tennis Club, said Victoria was sending two teams of eight boys and girls to the event.
“It’s the first time I’ve represented Victoria, so I’m pretty excited about it,” he said.
“I get to play eight matches during the event, hopefully I’ll do well.”
The event serves into action on 13 May.
