DOUGHNUT fever has swept across Melbourne’s south east with the first Krispy Kreme store opening in Narre Warren today (Thursday).
But while the hype will be focused on the new store, Krispy Kreme bosses have already set a new role for the Dandenong facility, which until recently had produced the company’s promotional doughnuts.
The Narre Warren store opens today and is capable of producing about 220 dozen doughnuts an hour.
As a result Krispy Kreme has designated the Dandenong facility with a new role – fundraising.
Under the marketing banner of FUNraising, Krispy Kreme this week confirmed Dandenong would still remain at the heart of the company’s Victorian operations, required to produce and store the large quantities of fundraising doughnuts the company expects to supply.
“Dandenong is set to be the main warehouse for all Victorian stores and will support them as they open and on an ongoing basis,” a spokeswoman said.
“In addition however, it will also assist with Krispy Kreme FUNraising programs given the considerable amount of product such initiatives usually require.”
The Fountain Gate Krispy Kreme store will feature a 24/7 drive-through, while the store itself will be open between 5.30am and 11pm on Sunday to Thursday; and 5.30am to 1am on Friday and Saturday.
