ADRIAN Gani has full confidence in the future of the tourism industry.
Last week he opened the first TRAVELezy branch in Dandenong’s Hub Arcade and hopes to open more outlets as his business grows.
Mr Gani worked with a larger travel company before branching out on his own.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. “I’ve always been passionate about it. I did my year 10 work experience with a travel agent.
“One of the things I love about the travel industry is that you’re involved in that excitement of going on a holiday.
“Every time someone comes in, I almost feel like I’m going with them.
“But I’ve done a lot of travelling. Now it’s time to concentrate on everyone else.”
The office refurbishment, complete with the prominent TRAVELezy branding, was completed well before he opened his doors to the public on Thursday.
He said the professional appearance of the office and the recognition of the brand was vital to the growth of his business.
“That was my intention. I didn’t want it to look like a back yard job. This is just a platform for what I want to achieve,” he said.
Mr Gani, who has lived in Dandenong for 16 years, said The Hub location would be a winner.
“Dandenong is getting busy, and this was one of the few places available at the time,” he said. “But it’s just fortunate that The Hub is central and is used as a main thoroughfare, so there’s quite a bit of foot traffic going past.”
He said the rise of Internet bookings doesn’t bother him.
“There’s always room for a travel agent. There’s too much room for error on the Internet if you’re not comfortable with using it.”
He said his specialty was holiday packages and honeymoons, but he has experience across all areas of the industry.
