Woman fights off kidnapper

Police Police

By Rebecca Fraser
A 24YEAROLD woman escaped a wouldbe abductor on Sunday night in a Noble Park car park.
Police said the woman was walking towards her car parked at the Coles car park in Douglas Street between the entrance to the supermarket and the Mobil Service Station when the incident occurred at 9.30pm.
They said that as the woman approached her vehicle she noticed a new one tonne cab chassis utility with a shiny silver tray, similar to a Toyota Hilux, parked beside her car.
Police said the woman then saw a man standing between her car and the utility.
He whistled at her before asking her to get inside his vehicle. The woman refused and unlocked and opened her car, but the man again asked her to get inside his vehicle.
When the woman refused again he grabbed her by the arm and tried to drag her into his car but she fought him off and dived into her own vehicle. She then drove out of the car park and east along Heatherton Road.
The man followed her along Kelvinside Road, where he stopped and turned around.
The man is described as southern European in appearance, about 170cm, late 20s, of medium build with short dark hair, a long pointy nose and clean shaven.
He was wearing a dark jumper.
The woman said there were four or five people nearby at the time of the attempted abduction who did not offer any assistance but might have witnessed the incident.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Senior Detective Wells of Springvale CIU on 9546 2929 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
