AN INITIATIVE by Greater Dandenong’s peak manufacturing body will take the headaches out of processing WorkCover claims.
South East Melbourne Manufacturers’ Alliance (SEMMA) last week entered a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with WorkCover agent Cambridge Integrated Services.
A crowd of SEMMA members, many from Dandenong’s industrial area, attended a luncheon to hear about the initiative, with many still frustrated by poor case investigation, agent-to-client communication and claims processing under the auspices of their own WorkCover agents.
SEMMA executive officer Paul Dowling said the agreement was a response to businesses’ frustration aired at the December meeting, with many owners complaining that their WorkCover agents were difficult to deal with.
Corex managing director Simon Whiteley told an audience of manufacturers about his experience to date with Cambridge and said the agent had a low turnover of WorkCover agents which meant communication during the claims process was smoother.
Mr Whiteley said the agent had investigated a claim in more detail than the company’s previous agent, discovering an employee had lodged a WorkCover claim on a day he did not work.
Mr Dowling said the agreement meant employers would make no more than two phone calls to process a claim, and would receive rapid responses.
The SLA is open to all SEMMA members.
